Canon Camera

This birthday cake was a new experience on a few fronts! First, because it was the first time I have sculpted a camera (made from Rice Krispie treats and covered with fondant). Second, the birthday girl is not a fan of conventional birthday cakes, so asked for Skor Cheesecake instead.

I've done cheesecakes in the past, but I have to admit, it's been a while and my cheesecake skills are a little rusty!

*Unsolicited tip: Bake your cheesecake at a lower temperature (275F) with a pan of water in the oven. This should help prevent the top from cracking when you take it out.

I was lucky enough to make two Lego cakes this week. The top one was for a 12th birthday and was Vanilla cake with Vanilla Buttercream. Pumpkins

This fun fall themed cake was requested for no reason other than the customer wanted a cake! It was Black Forest cake with Vanilla Meringue buttercream.

Sea Shells

This cake was for a 20th Anniversary party. The cake was Banana cake with Vanilla Cream Cheese Buttercream, with hand made gum paste shells and royal icing coral.
P.S. While I'd like to take the credit, I should mention that I didn't make the cake topper - it was store bought:)

Ivory Wedding

My first wedding cake! I was so excited when a lovely couple took a chance on me to make their wedding cake, even though I hadn't done one before. Even more exciting was venturing into the world of gluten free baking. The top tier was Gluten Free Orange Cream cake layered with Raspberry Cream and Vanilla Buttercream. The bottom two tiers were Vanilla Citrus cake, also layered with Raspberry Cream and Vanilla Buttercream.

Ladybug's & Bumblebee's

This cake was for the launch party of a second C.D. put out by the 'Iiyus Siiye'yu/Happy Friends in the Cowichan Valley. Click here to learn more about the group, and check out the C.D. cover which the cake was modeled after. The cake was Vanilla cake with Vanilla Buttercream.

Ring Cake

This was a design idea I've been wanting to try for a little while. Since there was no special event involved, my hubby's work was the lucky recipients! It too was Vanilla Citrus cake layered with Raspberry Curd and Vanilla Buttercream.

Pink & Brown Baby Girl

As I've mentioned before, there is an abundance of little girl babies being born in my area, and this little treat was for one of them. I was given free reign so I made my new favorite flavor: Vanilla Citrus layered with Raspberry Curd and Vanilla Buttercream. A deliciously fresh taste of summer!

African Safari

This was a really exciting cake to make. I learned how to airbrush for this cake, and I was thrilled with the results. It was for a retirement party for a missionary who had spent many years working in Africa. Bottom layer - Vanilla cake with Vanilla buttercream and Strawberry filling. Top layer - Spice cake with Vanilla buttercream.

Third Time's the Charm for Thomas!
