Red & Teal Flowers

I was very excited to receive my first "international" order this month!  No, I am not shipping internationally(or domestically, for that matter) - but this order did originate from New Zealand!
The recipient loves flowers and the color red, so not only were there some beautiful roses on the cake, the cake itself was Red Velvet.

Cupcake Central

These little treats were chocolate cupcakes with strawberry icing and caramel icing, for a lovely friends birthday celebration.

Angry Birds Christmas

I think this one explains itself!  My hubby requested it for his office Christmas Party.  The cake was a delicious, seasonal flavor - Apple Cranberry Cake.

Pink & Blue

This pink and blue treat helped celebrate the dedication of little Elayna Rose - baby girl to a dear friend!

"Huggsie & Blankie"

I always look forward to hearing what kind of cake my own children want for their birthday.  They are often very creative with their requests.  Son One usually has his theme picked months in advance, and doesn't stray from the plan.  Son Two is more easily swayed by what he sees leaving the kitchen (last year I did two Lego cakes in the same week!)
This year was no different.  We almost ended up with more Superhero Cupcakes for our party, but at the last minute he switched back to his original request - Huggsie and Blankie.  These little sleeping companions have been with him since birth:
And here they are on his cake:

Superhero Cupcakes

These fun superhero cupcakes (3 dozen altogether) were a huge hit at one little guys birthday party today.

They were also a huge hit amongst my little guys.  Since they gather inspiration for their own birthdays from what they see leaving the kitchen, I have a feeling these cupcakes will be making a second appearance very soon!

Copper Cupcakes

Copper doesn't seem to translate well, in icing or on camera!!  These cupcakes were indeed a coppery color (think brand new penny) made for a fundraiser selling copper bracelets.

Hockey Bag

I learned a few new tricks through the making of this cake for a surprise 40th birthday party - like what to do when your hockey stick breaks 10 minutes before delivery!

I was so thrilled with the results that I decided to forgive the hockey stick.

Chocolate Scroll

My 5 year old son solicited business for this cake - from his kindergarten teacher!  He convinced her that his mom "makes THE BEST cakes!" so she had to try one.

Thanksgiving

I love autumn.  I love the colors, I love the crispness of the air, I love it all.
I also love doing cakes in fall colors.  This little gem was for an annual gathering of friends who have been meeting up every Thanksgiving weekend for too many years to count.

It also gave me a chance to come up with a new fall flavor - Apple Cranberry Cake. It is deliciously festive and would complement any holiday event!

Petit Fours for Bolivia

I was thrilled to be a part of fundraising efforts for a missions team going to Bolivia in 2013.  These vanilla petit fours with raspberry filling had Bolivia colors on top.

Baby Girl

I've done this cake before, so I made a few (very minor) changes just to keep things fresh.

This was a fun surprise birthday cake for a woman who loves Mickey Mouse.

Brush Embroidery

This is a piping technique I've been wanting to try for a while called Brush Embroidery.  As my friends are all fairly good sports, Megan let me experiment on her birthday cake.  I love how it gives another level of texture and hope I get to do it again soon!

Birthday Mice

For those of you who are paying attention, the answer is no - I did not misspell Happy Birthday.  I did, however, learn some Dutch for this project!

Rainbow Brite

I had not heard of Rainbow Brite before this cake, but apparently it was a very popular children's cartoon when I was a child!  I thought the characters were absolutely adorable, and really enjoyed making them.

The inside of the cake was done in rainbow colors also but alas, I do not often get to consume my creations so will have to wait to get a picture from those who were there!

Turning 30 with Wine

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, and say that this wine bottle and I did NOT get along.  However, I pushed through and finished, because, well, you can't turn 30 without cake!!  (That, and I'm sure the paying customer wouldn't have appreciated me throwing in the towel!)

Barnyard Cupcakes

I'm starting to enjoy making cupcakes!
These ones were an absolute delight to make, simply because I thought they were so adorable.
Who doesn't love a cute little sleeping cow?
Or a tired little piggy?

Luscious Layers

This pretty pattern is something I've been wanting to try, and I finally had the opportunity for a dear friends recent birthday party.  At her request I tried a new recipe, and this Blueberry Lemon Cake with Lemon Curd will be going onto the list of available flavors soon!

Orchid's & Lace

I love pretty things.
Orchid's and lace piping definitely fall into that category!
This 90th birthday cake included both.  Even though I thought I might have to ice my hand after all that piping, I loved making this cake!
