I've always hesitated to do a cake without fondant. I like the ease with which fondant provides a smooth, flawless decorating surface.
However, my bride for this cake did not want fondant, and as a result I learned that a simply iced cake can be beautiful too!

I also made Stargazer Lily's for the first time, and couldn't have been happier with the results!
